Wand Support

Wand is an iPhone app (iOS 18 or later) that turns your iPhone into a remote control for supported smart TVs on your Wi‑Fi network.

Contact us

hello@miyawesim.app

We reply by email. Please tell us your iPhone model and iOS version, your TV’s brand and model, and what happened.

You can also attach a TV report: in Wand, open Settings → Help → TV diagnostic report and tap Share. Nothing is sent unless you share it. What the report contains is listed in the Privacy Policy.

Which TVs Wand works with

Supported models from Samsung (Tizen), LG (webOS), Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Vizio (SmartCast), Hisense (VIDAA) and Google TV / Android TV. What works depends on the TV model, its software, your network and the TV’s settings. The TV must be on and awake.

Wand controls TVs over your Wi‑Fi network. It does not use infrared or Bluetooth, and it does not need an account.

Wand can’t find my TV

Check these first:

  1. Same Wi‑Fi. Your iPhone and your TV must be on the same network. Guest networks, and 2.4 / 5 GHz bands that keep devices apart, count as different networks.
  2. TV on and awake. A TV in deep standby drops off the network. Turn it on with its own remote, then scan again.
  3. Local Network permission. iOS Settings → Apps → Wand → Local Network must be on (you can also find it under Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network).
  4. VPN and iCloud Private Relay off. Both can stop your iPhone from finding devices on your network.
  5. Router. Turn off AP or client isolation (sometimes called “guest mode”). It blocks the device-to-device traffic Wand uses to find your TV.

Then check your TV’s settings below. If the TV still does not appear, add it by its IP address. Wand has the same steps under Settings → Help → Can’t find your TV?

Allow remote control on your TV

Menu names can differ by model and software version.

Samsung

  • Connect, then press Allow on the TV with the TV’s own remote.
  • Pressed Deny, or the Allow prompt doesn’t appear? Go to Settings → General → External Device Manager → Device Connection Manager → Device List, remove Wand, then try again.
  • Asked to allow on every connect? Set External Device Manager → Access Notification to “First Time Only”.
  • Your iPhone and the TV must be on the same subnet: Samsung blocks control across separate or guest networks.
  • To switch the TV on from Wand: Settings → General → Network → Expert Settings → Power On with Mobile: On.

LG

  • Turn on All Settings → General → Network → LG Connect Apps. If it is off, the TV won’t answer app connections.
  • Accept the approval that appears on the TV with the TV’s remote. To pair again, remove the TV in Wand and add it again so a fresh approval appears.
  • To switch the TV on from Wand: Settings → General → Devices → External Devices → TV On with Mobile: On, and turn on Quick Start+.

Roku

  • Set Settings → System → Advanced system settings → Control by mobile apps to Enabled and confirm the prompt. Recent Roku devices come set to Limited: the TV shows up in Wand but ignores every command until you change this. On older Roku devices: Network access → Permissive.
  • To switch the TV on from Wand: Settings → System → Power → Fast TV Start: On.

Amazon Fire TV

  • Keep the device in standby rather than deep sleep: Sticks and Cubes can’t be woken over Wi‑Fi from deep sleep (Settings → Power).
  • Your router must allow DIAL (TCP 8009) and the remote service (TCP 8080).
  • Fire TV Stick 4K Select and newer sticks run Amazon’s Vega OS (software version starting with “1.”), which may not support app remotes yet.
  • Check for updates (Settings → My Fire TV → About → Check for Updates) and restart the device (Settings → My Fire TV → Restart) if it does not appear.

Google TV / Android TV

  • Settings → Apps → Show system apps → Android TV Remote Service must be Enabled. If pairing keeps failing, open its Storage, choose Clear storage, restart the TV and pair again.
  • To switch the TV on from Wand, where your TV has it: Settings → System → Power & Energy → Networked standby.

Vizio

  • Set Settings → System → Power Mode to Quick Start. In Eco Mode the TV turns its network off in standby and never answers a scan.
  • The TV must run SmartCast / VIZIO OS (Settings → System → System Information). Older VIA / VIA+ sets, from before 2016, are not compatible.
  • Finish the TV’s first-time setup. A TV that has not been set up may appear in a scan but refuse the PIN.

Hisense (VIDAA)

  • Turn on Settings → System → Mobile App Connection (on some models “App Connection”). If it is off, the TV refuses the connection.
  • Turn on Settings → System → Power → Quick Start, so the TV stays reachable in standby.
  • Finish the TV’s first-time setup and accept the VIDAA terms on the TV.
  • 2024 and newer models only accept a secured connection. Wand sets it up for you: you just enter the 4-digit code the TV shows.

Pairing codes and the Allow prompt

No code on the TV? Make sure the TV is showing that device’s input (HDMI) and its screen is awake. On a TV operator’s box, the code may only appear on the box’s Home screen: press Home on its remote first, then try again.

Code refused? Check the code on the TV screen and try again.

Add a TV by its IP address

Use this when your TV is on the same Wi‑Fi but Wand doesn’t find it. In the list of TVs, tap Enter IP manually, choose the TV type and enter its IP address, for example 192.168.1.42.

You can find the address in the TV’s network settings, for example:

Some keys don’t work

Which keys a TV accepts depends on its model and software. Menu, guide, info and exit appear only when the TV supports them.

App shortcuts depend on the TV too. Some TVs share only a list of popular apps they can open, and some share none; open other apps from the TV’s Home screen.

With Wand Pro you can test the keys: Settings → Help → TV diagnostic report → Run safe key check. It sends navigation keys to the TV and shows which ones worked.

Wand can’t switch my TV on

About 15 minutes after being turned off, most TVs drop into deep sleep and leave the Wi‑Fi network. No app can reach them there: that is the TV saving power. The power settings listed for your brand above make switching on from Wand more reliable. If the TV is in deep sleep, turn it on with its own remote.

Typing on the TV

With Wand Pro, type on your iPhone and send the text straight to the active text field on your TV, for example a search box. This works on supported TVs when the TV shows a text field. Send + Enter also presses Enter on the TV’s keyboard.

Easy Mode

Turn on Settings → Preferences → Easy Mode for bigger buttons and a simpler screen.

Language

Wand appears in your iPhone’s language when Wand is translated into it. To use a different language for Wand alone, first add that language in iOS Settings → General → Language & Region, then choose it in iOS Settings → Apps → Wand → Language.

Wand Pro, subscriptions and restoring

Without Wand Pro, Wand works as a volume remote (volume up and down) for one saved TV. Wand Pro unlocks every key, the TV keyboard, app shortcuts and several saved TVs. To see the plans, open Settings → Subscription → Unlock.

Prices come from the App Store and are shown in Wand before you buy.

Manage or cancel the subscription: iOS Settings → your name (Apple Account) → Subscriptions.

Restore a purchase on a new iPhone or after reinstalling Wand: sign in with the same Apple Account and tap Restore on the Wand Pro screen, or Settings → Subscription → Restore purchases in Wand.

Refunds: payments go to Apple, and Orbiva Ltd cannot see or refund them. Ask Apple for a refund through Apple’s Report a Problem page.
